New Partnership Launches CTD Money Advice Project

A new partnership between Money Advice South Tyneside (MAST) and Communities Together Durham (CTD) is set to provide vital money advice and debt support to people across South Tyneside and the wider North East.

MAST was set up with support from Lord Crewe’s Charity and CTD.  This new, deeper partnership will bring together MAST’s community-focused approach with Communities Together Durham’s extensive experience of supporting individuals, families and local organisations facing hardship. This will support and develop the growth of the project.  The initiative aims to help people navigate financial challenges, access support, build confidence with money management and reduce the impact of debt and financial exclusion.

Communities Together Durham works alongside churches, charities and local authorities to bring hope to local communities.  CTD’s work includes strengthening communities and tackling issues including poverty, social isolation and financial hardship.

This new project comes at a time when many households continue to face rising living costs and increasing financial pressures. Through one-to-one support, signposting, education and community engagement, the partnership aims to ensure that more people can access the help they need before financial difficulties become a crisis.

Alexander Jones, CEO of Communities Together Durham said:

"Financial pressures continue to affect many individuals and families across our communities. By partnering with MAST, we are able to support the work that currently takes place in South Tyneside and develop partnerships to see further reach across the Tyne-Tees area.  A a Christian charity, supporting people in debt is close to our heart - it is such a practical way to help individuals experience freedom in their own life. We are excited to explore the opportunities of this deeper partnership."

The partnership reflects a shared commitment to creating stronger, more resilient communities where people can access support, overcome challenges and thrive. The project will work closely with local organisations, churches and community groups to reach those most in need and ensure support is available where it can make the greatest difference.
