Free, confidential money advice and and support for individuals and families across South Tyneside.

Money Advice aims to help people build financial confidence and stability. We provide practical support to individuals and families experiencing financial difficulties. Money Advice partners with Money Advice South Tyneside (MAST) to offer a Community Money Advice debt centre in South Tyneside.

We understand that managing money can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially during periods of rising living costs, unexpected life changes, or financial uncertainty. The Money Advice service has been developed to provide accessible, confidential, and non-judgemental support to help people take control of their finances and make informed decisions about their future.

Money advice delivered with dignity, compassion and without judgement.

We can offer guidance and support on a range of financial issues including:

  • Budgeting and managing household finances

  • Understanding income and expenditure

  • Accessing benefits and financial support

  • Debt advice and signposting to specialist services

  • Support with financial wellbeing

  • Building confidence in money management

  • Accessing local support services and community resources.

Our aim is to help people improve their financial resilience, reduce stress, and access the support they need before financial challenges become a crisis.

This project brings together the strengths of MAST and Communities Together Durham, both of which share a commitment to supporting people with dignity, compassion and practical action. We are actively looking at partnerships to expand the project to other areas and welcome enquiries from potential partners.

By working alongside local churches, community groups, charities and partner organisations, we aim to ensure that money advice and support are available to those who need it most.

All support is delivered in a respectful, confidential and person-centred way.

Money Advice currently operates in partnership with Money Advice South Tyneside and is taking referrals in the South Tyneside local authority area.  If you would like to partner with or refer yourself to our Money Advice support, please contact sam.harrison@communitiestogetherdurham.org.uk
